Picasa Web Albums - A Review
Recently I discovered that I want to jump on the photo sharing bandwagon. We’d been on a trip to visit family and I wanted to send all the photos we’d taken to them. We got a new puppy and I wanted to give my daughter a way to share the adorable puppy shots with her friends.
For some reason I have never been attracted to Flickr. I know millions of people are and I don’t have anything against it. It just didn’t seem to “fit” what I wanted.
Since last week I have been using GMail as my personal email and the Photos link caught my eye. With a quick click I was at Picasa. At first I almost clicked away thinking that it was the same desktop photo organizing software that I had already seen. It is desktop photo software, but with Picasa Web Albums it is much more.
A few minutes after signing up for my free account I had created two Picasa Web Albums with private links that I can send to my family and my daughter can send to her friends without the rest of the world having access them. I think that whole social networking aspect of photos online is something that doesn’t appeal to me. But anyway…
Picasa Web Albums is very easy to use. It makes it super simple to share photos. Bottom line. . . it is way FUN!
Your free storage quota is 1GB. That’s enough room to post and share around 4,000 standard resolution photos. Your friends can even make comments on your photos and if you want you’ll be emailed when they do.
I posted some photos into a public gallery so you can see for yourself how cool it is. Just click on the whale tale to take a peek. When you’re done looking and want to get your own Picasa Web Album, you can get it here:
