About

Hi! I’m Kim Dushinski, a mom, blogger, cell phone power user, digital photography organizer, MP3/podcast listener, digital scrapbooker and website strategist. I created this blog as a place for moms who like technology (or want to) to gather, learn and share with each other.

In my first official post on HighTechMomsClub I mentioned that I have quite a few technology loves that on the surface don’t really blend together. However I realized that the common thread was actually me. I love technology - especially anything related to the Internet. Blogging is so fun. Creating websites is a rush. Using my cell phone to use Excel files. I even love working on my playlists.

I hardly think of myself as a techie. I reserve that for people who can hard code HTML, build a computer from scratch, the brave souls who use CSS and actually understand it, the affiliate marketers who actually check their stats and know where all their links are. People with more than one Buddy in their IM list. And people who work in IT departments.

But when one of my friends confesses that she doesn’t know how to send an email without replying to one she’s been sent or another one looks at me funny for sending a text message I just have to smile. When I realize that members of my own family have no idea what to do with the digital photos they just took besides look at them in the camera I chuckle. Not at them, of course. But at the reality that I am a HighTechMom. Are you?

It feels good to know that the new technology is not passing me by. (The new music certainly is - I am a hard core 80s music fan.) It is totally fun to be the one teaching my 10-year old daughter about email, and how to use her iPod and how to find things on the Internet. I feel empowered when my husband asks me to make sure our anti-virus and spyware subscriptions are up to date. I love being a HighTechMom.

Hopefully you do too and you’ll find lots of fun stuff here at the HighTechMomsClub. Please feel free to email me, comment on the blog, send me suggestions.
